Hi you all! I have always since I can remember been active in sports of some kind. I am truly happy for that as that has helped me in maintaining a good normal weight.
However growing up during the 70-80ies the food choices was not in my or anyone’s favor. I blame my constant battle with illnesses and eczema’s to milk and gluten. It was not until I turned 30 I would really starting to enjoy salads and good nutrition foods.
And with that I mean most plant based, not completely vegan however I could probably do that if I didn’t have to make sure my children got feed properly😊
Becoming older I have noticed that my body is more sensitive then it use to be, and it has all to do with, what I eat. I have tried going Keto with meat and dairy and even if the diet itself works I do not like the way my body feels. I fell stuffed and not fresh at all. My skin needs tons of leafy greens, good avocados, healthy and fresh organic greens.
The good part of Keto is that you don’t feel hungry 😋, so I am made a change and made it more green to fill it with “green” fats instead. With green fats means nuts and avocados and different oils.
Within a week of quitting sugar and restrict my diet to a more healthy Keto I can clearly see a difference in my skin and body. I look a lot healthier, as I had been on mountain hike.
So to give my body the best tools for aging the best way possible I will stay away from sugar, eat during a 6 hrs eating window, enjoy red wine once in awhile and stock up on those must to have vitamins- C, Zink, Magnesium, and different sets av Vitamin B’s, all good for your cells turnover which will give your skin a glow.
What is your main reason for training? I exercise for a couple of reasons but mainly because my brain loves it, It makes me feel really good. And it´s known that exercise release the “feel good hormones” endorphins. And that super hormone reduces stress as well as reduces your perception of pain. Beside that it helps me maintain a healthy weight as well as keep my body toned.
Most of our time is spent in an office, or at least most of our time is spent sitting down. Add that we usually have a stressful life that adds allot of stiffness to our body. Both mind and body will react to a stressful lifestyle.
And even thoughts can be stressful, not only having a hectic schedule. You might go through a crises or a lifetime change, the last thing on your mind might be going to the gym. But this is the time you should hit the gym.If the gym is to much of a challenge, go for a walk in the forest or a park is to be preferred.
Even children all ages need this as they are a generation who are spending more and more time online and less time outside.
Our brain is the same as it was 40 000 years and back then our body was in constant movement outside- and our brain still needs the outdoor and or body needs the exercise. When possible I will walk or take my bike, seldom you will see me in the car or for that matter on the bus. That way I will get my daily exercise. To keep flexible I add daily Yoga practice 20-30 minutes max. But It is also very important to get your pulse up and sweat, to release toxins.
Taking care of the body and mind goes hand in hand, the older I get the more important it gets to really listen in, and you do it through your soul.
A couple of years ago, I did not listen, well that was not really true. I was listening but I refused to pay attention to the signals I was getting and that unfortunately left me with chronic skin issues, mostly related to my skin. I was a pleaser in many ways and was battling with selfempowerment.
I was the nice, kind one. Always flexible and happy to anyone else but myself. Anyway, it led to problems with my skin, real skin problems.
It started out as rash around my eyes which spread to other parts of the body. This was getting really bad to a point were I could barely go out. I went to the doctor who prescribe different ornament that made my skin temporary better for a short awhile. But nothing really helped and it was so depressing. Superficial? maybe but still. So I started to listen in and also experiment with cutting out certain foods, mainly gluten and dairy.
And sure enough things started to get better. Today I am 99% gluten free by choice and my skin is much better. So now I take time to listen in and focus on just nurturing my body with good thoughts, healthy food and couple of NO´s now and then. My skin is still an issue from time to time. But if I eat well, and listen in, my body and mind are in balance and I feel great.
So from now on, I have decided to really be good to my self, by that i mean really eating healthy, what ever that means :)- More vegan, less sugar, less salt, and more meditating, pilates and me time.
I have set a goal, actually I have a couple of goals but I will invite you to follow one of them – my health plan. I am in no way unhealthy, but I want to make changes inside and out. My plan is to reduce sugar intake to 0 during these 21 days and with that, put in different excersizes that will benefit not only my physical body, but also my mental mindset.
I have a couple of weeks were I can control my schedule and time so why not set mys self up for a test.
Being middle age, and head diving in to menopause I need and want to help my body become the best version possible. As it is not responding the way it use to and even If I love the strength it has giving me through the years it is more sensitive and not really as responsive as it has been. This challenge will also test my mental power. So this is my plan.
For foods, only plant base for these 21 days, I will follow a Dr Gundry Plant Paradox diet. I will stick to a intermitten fasting with a 4 – max 6 hrs eating window. This will let my body heal inside and out.
Plenty of water and green matcha as well as coffee. As my body is low in ferritin (Iron) I need to take iron supplements as well as vitamin C as this will help the body with the Iron and its a great supplement for staying healthy. I will also give my body B-12, Omega 3 and Silica and some natural fermented estrogen. I will list all the supplements along the journey.
Wow, where to start? I am strong believer in loving your self and really embrace what life has giving you. We are all beautiful inside and out, you know that already, but still. As a woman, you go through a lot of changes during life. The biggest changes comes often after childbirth, some things are going south, and believe me something are going north.
With estrogen decreasing in your body, changes start happening. Fat deposits moves, you might find your behind become flatter, and if you are blessed with a waist, you might find parts of your behind is actually moving north, ending up around your waist as muffin tops. You are also loosing muscle mass, and with loosing muscle mass comes loose skin as there is no muscle underneath supporting it..
You need to change you exercise routine, you need to opt up the weight lifting to keep your muscle tone, and skip the really long distance runs as this is quite stressful for the body. As you get older your cell turnover is a lot slower, and it takes longer time for the body to recover. If you do HIIT do it no more then 3 times a week and do Yoga for flexibility.
I use Jojoba oil, both for body and face. I like the softness it brings and also that it is very natural, with that said, i use stronger retinal product as well. You need stronger product with aging skin, not only on your face and neck, but also on the rest of your body. Dry scrubbing is very much needed, every other day to get rid of old dull skin, before hitting the shower.
And most of all – Be happy, if you are not happy, make it your goal to be.
I am approaching 50, and I am a mother of 4. In my mind I am closer to 25, but my body and skin is not. I want to stay healthy and still look great without overdoing anything. I believe in balance, I am not going to give up life, just to stay “young”.
Raised in a family where sports was a part of everyones life, we were always active, from downhill skiing to using our bikes to travel to and from school, the city, friends. I have always been busy. In my late 20th up to 45 running was my passion. No long distance, my longest run ever was a half marathon.
Lately my body is not as keen to run anymore, and I believe in listening in on my body. Today I might run once a week, lift weight once a week and do short 20-25 minutes yoga flow sessions (in the morning) 4-5 times a week. I have added Yoga in to my practice, for the flexibility it gives me and not to forget the deep breathing.. I still use my bike daily – everywhere I go.
And yes, nothing is for free and the older you get the harder you have to work. No short cuts, next up I will talk about diets, and no diets.
How can anything be so beautiful🥰? Living in the northern part of Europe in a country where the winter outshines the summer by many months and the sun barely goes up during the month of December , this is pure love.
Sweden is beautiful in many ways and yes, during summer we get the opposite, we have the long summer days when the sun barely sets. But one thing we don’t have is fresh fruits like this, the taste is amazing.. staying healthy is so much easier when surrounded by these options☀️
